2015 National Teachers’ Month and World Teachers’ Day Celebration
Once again, teachers conquered the limelight as they celebrated World Teachers’ Day last October 1 held at San Pablo Central School’s gymnasium. Thousands of teachers from the 7 districts and 15 secondary schools of San Pablo City come together for this one big event.
Red was the color of the day as it connotes never ending love for the students. Everyone was delighted at the said event knowing that it was their break; their time to shine, to showcase their talents, and to have fun throughout the afternoon after a long hard work of teaching and facilitating students.
The celebration started through the celebration of the Eucharistic Mass followed by program proper. Hosting the event were Anna Margarita Bundalian and Franz Kevin Manalo of San Pablo Science HS. The PSDS of Lakeside District, Mr. Rodel Baclig, made his welcoming remarks emphasizing that teachers are key to a student’s success towards a brighter future. He made the audience feel a sense of belongingness as he warmly welcomed all the teachers and guests.
On the other hand, OIC – School Division Superintendent Mrs. Susan DL Oribiana highlighted the love of a teacher for his students as signified by the red shirt, which she was quoted saying “Pusong tumitibok para sa mga mag-aaral”.
From a melodramatic ambiance, the aura has turned into a happy note when Mayor Amben Amante announced that teachers would be receiving PHP 1200 cash as an early Christmas gift; thus, PHP 4M was allotted for this.
After the messages, retirees of DepEd where honored followed by the SHINE Awardees. Rosa M. Garcia, Principal of Stmo.Rosario ES was hailed Best SBM Implementer; Outstanding Campus Journalism award went to Ambray Elementary School; Most Effective Feeding Program
was Soledad Elementary School; Best Brigada Eskwela Implementer was San Crispin ES; Most Outstanding Principal was Ms. Heidelyn Tolentino; OutstandingTeacher (Elementary) Arlene P. Bacod; and Outstanding Teacher (Secondary) was Wilson Ray G. Anzures.
In the afternoon, the audience was entertained and energized through their active participation in” Laro ng Lahi”. Adding glamor to the event was the dance sport competition in the elementary level won by Carol Lacbay of Sta Filomena Integrated School, Folk Dance competition in the high school level won by San Pablo City National High School the school heads also had their vocal solo competition, where Christine Dianne San Juan, principal of San Diego ES was declared champion.
