Garcia Wins Best SBM Implementer Award
“I am a strong individualist by personal habit, inheritance, and conviction; but it is a mere matter of common sense to recognize that the State, the community, the citizens acting together, can do a number of things better than if they were left to individual action.” – Theodore Roosevelt
This quote holds true to Mrs. Rosa M. Garcia, principal of Stmo. Rosario ES, as she was lauded Best SBM Implementer for the 2015 “Gawad Patnugot “Awards, held at Alonte Stadium, Biñan City on October 7, 2015. Her hard work finally paid off when out of 19 divisions in Region IV-A CALABARZON, she was chosen as finalist. Then from the three finalists she was hailed 2015 Best SBM Implementer.
When asked if she had an inkling that she would win, she said that she was not expecting it since; her competitors were mainly from big divisions. The regional validation took place last 11 September; headed by Ms. Paz Lungcay and the team had a very good impression of the school for it really supported the documents presented. When called on stage as a winner, she can hardly believe that she won.
When interviewed on her best practices on SBM implementation, she gave the following tips: SHs just need to be honest and transparent in the utilization of school resources; involve the stakeholders in the planning and implementation of SIP; recognize their exemplary performances to boost their morale, by doing that, school heads will be able to get their full support to all programs and projects; establish proper communication, linkages, and networking with external stakeholders through social media, and lastly; always make yourself available and visible to all teachers and pupils.
